Poser City

(A work in progress) Measuring approximately 9 feet wide by 6 feet tall, Poser City is a collage piece incorporating magazine advertisements, acrylic paint, Japanese rice paper, and circuit boards (not yet added).  Generally, the work is a reflection of consumerism in high-income industrial countries – our never-ending perceived need to have the latest and greatest gadgets and fashion.  The people in Poser City have no hands or feet – their devices become fused where fingers and toes should be – a dependency that can ultimately be disabling. Electronic waste piles up around the oblivious crowd who seem only to be looking in the direction of “what’s next.
